Mr. Willie Moreland, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at The Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky, having attained the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He was born in Clinton County, Kentucky, on Friday, September 7, 1934, the son of John and Bessie (Ballou) Moreland. On the cherished day of Saturday, September 10, 1960, Willie was united in marriage with his beloved Lillie Dean (Bowlin) Moreland. Together, they nurtured and raised a family filled with love and devotion. Through 1956 to 1958, he proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he displayed his dedication to his country. Mr. Moreland was of the Baptist faith and a member of Stony Point Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a self-employed welder and a cherished member of the community, always extending his kindness and expertise to anyone who needed it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Arlee Ferguson, Mary Dean Moreland, Jessie Moreland, and Johnny Russell Moreland; and his son, Larry Bowlin.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Dean (Bowlin) Moreland of Albany, Kentucky; siblings Jean (& Melvin) Bowlin and Kathy (& Lanny) Stockton, both of Albany, Kentucky; children Ronnie (& Angela) Bowlin, Gail (& Jeff) Fryman, both of Albany, Kentucky, Connie (& Rick) Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Ed (& Cindy) Bowlin of Edmonton, Kentucky, and Betty (& Greg) Abston of Albany, Kentucky; grandchildren Melanie (& Jeremy) Wyatt, Ashley Bowlin, Jeremy (& Beth) Fryman, Brooke (& Luke) Henson, Jessica (& John) Wallen, and Summer (& Adam) Shelley; great-grandchildren Lincoln Wyatt, Lillie Wyatt, Jett Fryman, Jagger Fryman, Beckett Fryman, Lexie Henson, Drake Henson, Noah Wallen, and Luke Wallen, as well as many other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Med Center Health family, as well as daily caregivers, Patricia Flowers and Leslie Caldwell.
The Funeral Service was conducted on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. CST with Bro. Jim England and Bro. Larry Brown officiating, and a eulogy by David Warinner at Stony Point Baptist Church in Albany, Kentucky. Casket bearers were John Wallen, Lucas Henson, Jeremy Wyatt, Lincoln Wyatt, Jett Fryman, Adam Shelly, Jeffery Fryman, and Jeremy Fryman. Honorary casket bearers were Tim Albertson, Johnny DeRossett, Lou Latham, Dickie Richardson, Larry Richardson, David Warinner, Bill York, Lance York, Noah Wallen, and Jagger Fryman. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky.
