Mrs. Penny Darlene (Cross) Russell, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away at the U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, having attained the age of 64 years, 5 months, and 29 days. She was born in Albany, Kentucky on Monday, May 9, 1960, the daughter of Wendell & Uldine (Grider) Cross. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of Central Grove Church, where she enjoyed working at Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Bledsoe.

She is survived by her husband Johnny Russell, whom she wed on May 17, 1981, sons, Nathan (& Tina) Russell of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jonathan Russell of Albany, Kentucky, siblings, Tammy (& Jeff) Brown, Wendy McWhorter, Richard Cross, all of Albany, and Roy Wayne Beck of Russell Springs, Kentucky, grandson, Landon Hollon, and many other family and friends.

The funeral service was conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Huffaker, Bro. Larry Brown, and Bro. Jeff Bertram officiating. Burial was in the Central Grove Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Nathan Russell, Johnathan Russell, Richard Cross, Jeff Brown, Silas McWhorter, Austin Brown, and Jacob Cross. The Honorary Casket Bearer was Johnny Russell.
