Mrs. Mareeda (Sell) Gibson of Somerset, Kentucky, formally of Albany, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Neighborhood of Somerset in Somerset, Kentucky, having attained the age of 94 years, 8 months, and 29 days. She was born in the Palestine Community of Albany, Kentucky on Sunday, September 15, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Eula (Davidson) Sell. She was of the Nazarene faith, attended the Highway Nazarene Church and a teacher for the Branch County Board of Education in Michigan. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, traveling and singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John S. Gibson whom she wed on Friday, August 1, 1958, sister, Beatrice Sell, brother, Dwight Sell, infant brother, and special friends, Arling & Mary Lane.
She is survived by her siblings, Lucy S. (& Walter Fleatwood) Kemplen of Lynn, Indiana, Joel Sell, Noreen Sell all of Albany, Kentucky, Loretta Sell, Dimple (& Pete) Fournaris both of Louisville, Kentucky, sister-in-law, Genevieve Sell several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. C.S.T. at the Highway Church of Nazarene in Clinton County, Kentucky with Bro. Bobby Grant and Bro. John Ford officiating. Burial was in the Highway Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Brandon Pharis, Jeff Pharis, Bobby Reneau, Tyler Shearer, Mike Staton, and Sid Scott. In lieu of flowers the family request for donations to be made to Highway Cemetery or Lake Cumberland Hospice.
