Lexie (Conatser) Sloan Cummings, 83, left her earthly home peacefully surrounded by loved ones and into the arms of Our Lord and Savior September 25, 2021. She was born May 5, 1938 to Floyd and Avo Conaster in Little Crab, Tennessee. and later moved to Albany, Kentucky. She lived in Akron, Ohio while raising her children. She returned to Kentucky and in 2008 she married Donald (Donnie) Cummings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a devout Christian, and a member of Albany First Methodist church. She worked as an instructional aide at Albany Elementary and then at Dale Hollow Lake State Park until she retired. She enjoyed her family and was an excellent cook and baker. Her children will always remember how she got all four of her little children ready and to church every Sunday year after year, teaching them the love of God and strengthening our faith, giving us her kindness and support while we grew up. She was always ready with a smile and a laugh.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L Cummings of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, children, Richard (Sharon) Sloan of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Ronald (Peggy) Sloan of Silver Lake, Ohio, Donna (Ray) Hood of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Tim (Irina) Sloan of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, step-children, Shirley Sloan of Jamestown, Kentucky, John Cummings of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, Mike (Terri) Cummings of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Donna (Bud) Rivenbark of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Carolyn Cummings of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Cathy Cummings of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, sister, Jean (Richard) Mathews of Byrdstown, Tennessee, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren and 5 God children, many adored and loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Avo (Peavyhouse) Conatser, sisters, Ruth Daffron Sloan, Janice Ann Sheehan, brothers, Floyd Dallas Conatser, Donald C. Conatser, Jason Clyde (JC) Conatser, and Johnny K Conatser.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. C.S.T at Albany First United Methodist Church in Albany with Bro. Shane Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Albany Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 5:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, October 1, and again Saturday, October 2, from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Visitation will resume Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service at Albany First United Methodist Church.
