Karin (Savage) Goodman Obituary

Karin L. Goodman. passed away peacefully in the evening of Friday, April 8th after battling a long illness. She was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1949 but raised in Dayton, Ohio and Albany, Kentucky living back and forth between the two for most of her life.

A 4’10 woman with zesty red hair often found holding a cigarette singing and laughing, Karin was always out for adventure be it looking for the next antique, historical park, or tasty meal. She was a champion majorette in her youth, a 1968 graduate of Belmont HS, card club player, lover of Paul Newman and an amazing friend. She was funny, feisty and had a sense about her that was unearthly but so comforting. Holidays were of great importance to Karin, Halloween & Christmas in particular. The house would be LAVISHLY decorated with incredible antique decorations, lights strewn up, down and everywhere with more Santas per square foot than Macy’s. Karin’s holiday parties were her signature, the time where she could shine with her extraordinary generosity, dry sense of humor and unwavering love for family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Johnnie Savage, grandparents John & Bessie Smith and Silas & Ollie Savage plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her great love and husband of 43 years, Bruce. The children she was immensely proud of: Stacey (Tom), Kelly (Roger), Joe (Jennifer), and the lights of her life, her self-admitted true purpose on this earth: grandchildren Reed, Hannah, Harleigh, and Ryan.

The Goodmans would like to express their appreciation of support for family and friends during mom’s long illness, she was grateful for every message and prayer. Never forget how much she loved all of you. Hail and farewell, my sweet little mother, till we meet again.
