Mrs. Josephine (Guffey) “Jody” Rains, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away at the Beech Tree Manor in Jellico, Tennessee on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, having attained the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 11 days. She was born in Alpha, Kentucky on Monday, January 26, 1948, the daughter of Cordell & Idell (Guffey) Guffey. She was of the Christian Faith and was member of the Walnut Grove Independent Church. In her spare time, Jody was an avid reader, loved to travel and sing, enjoyed UK Basketball, and listening to Elvis Presley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Ben Rains, whom she married on Monday, March 3, 1969, sister, Frankie McLean, Yvonnie Pierce, and brother, Gene Pierce.

She is survived by her sons, Travis (& Kim) Rains of Alpha, Kentucky, and Michael (& Megan) Rains of Albany, Kentucky, siblings, Roland Guffey, Veta (& Melvin) Daniel, and Rita (& Dr. William) Powell, all of Albany, Kentucky, brother-in-law, Bill McLean of Vandalia, Ohio, grandchildren, Bailey Rains, Will Rains, Karli Rains, Kamryn Rains, and great-granddaughter, Skylin Rains.

The funeral service was conducted on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Roger Jones, and Bro. Melvin Daniel officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Baily Rains, Will Rains, Danny Jones, Luther Johnson, Shane Smith, and Bozie York.
