Mr. Jackie Everett Guffey of Albany, Kentucky, formerly of New Castle, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at The University of Louisville Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 11 days. He was born on Monday, January 5, 1948, in Albany, Kentucky, the son of Fred & Rosie (Ferrell) Guffey. Jackie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, a testament to his dedication and sense of duty. Following his service, he built a long and hardworking career with Chrysler in New Castle, Indiana, where he spent over 33 years operating a forklift and driving a semi. Outside of work, Jackie was a true homebody who found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished time spent with his family, enjoyed playing card games, and never passed up a good cookout. He also loved boating on the lake and was an avid fan of NASCAR races, always ready to watch a race whenever he could. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James Guffey and Gene Guffey; step-siblings, Stella Baker, Margie Golden, Rubelee Duvall, and Lou Duvall.
He is survived by his significant other, Sue Rains of Albany, Kentucky, son, Jeffery Guffey of Albany, Kentucky; siblings, Billy (& Julie Anne) Guffey of Indiana, Ronnie “Buffy” (& Belinda) Guffey, of Somerset, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Saundra (Cummings) Guffey of Monticello, Kentucky; step-siblings, Imogene Smith, Roger Guinn, both of Albany, Kentucky, and Janice Chaplin of Monticello, Kentucky, nieces & nephews, Jelina Guffey, Sara Guffey, Makenzie Guffey, J.J. Guffey, Josh Guffey, Joseph Guffey, Freddy Guffey, Holy Turner.
The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. CST in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Chaplin officiating. Burial was in the Davis Chapel Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Eric Smith, Jimmy Daley, Nick Guffey, Jame E. Guffey Jr., Joshua Guffey, Freddie Guffey, Marty Madison, and Gary Davis.
