Mrs. Iva (Groce) Claywell of Albany passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Medical Center in Albany Kentucky, having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months & 24 days. She was born in Albany, Kentucky on Thursday, April 30, 1936, the daughter of Edgar Freeman & Iva Pearl (Griffin) Groce. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a devoted member of Seminary Church of Christ. A 1955 graduate of Clinton County High School, she worked at Maple Hill Hospital and later as a skilled seamstress at Sutton’s. She found joy in gardening and tending to her flowers, cherished time spent with her family, and above all, had a deep love for the Lord and His Word. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston C. Claywell, whom she wed on June 21, 1965, siblings, Kathleen Cash, Irene Wells, Louis Groce, Cletus Groce and Odell Groce, Niece, Donna Groce, Nephews, Dennis Groce & Warren Groce.

She is survived by her sisters, Jean Thrasher of Albany Kentucky, Lois Ann (& Tom) Kemp of Lexington, Kentucky, nephew, who was like a son, Nathan Thrasher of Albany, Kentucky, other special nieces & nephews, Kathy Connor, Julie Price, James Groce, David Groce, Susan Hodgin, Sharon Grazino, Phillip Groce & Sheila Groce, Several Great-Nieces & Great Nephews

The funeral service was conducted on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home in Albany, Kentucky with Bro. Donnie Shelley, Bro. Donnie Wells, and Bro. Billbert Allison officiating. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to the Albany Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jed Groce, Malcolm Thrasher, Callahan Thrasher, Kay Pearl Thrasher, Todd Pillar, and Evan Price.
