Mrs. Gwendalean (Smith) Barnett Stockton of Albany, Kentucky passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019, at her residence in Albany, having attained the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 28 days. She was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on Monday, November 11, 1940, the daughter of Arthur Lee and Thelma (Barber) Smith. She was of Baptist faith, a member of Stony Point Baptist Church, and a Teaching Assistant for the Clinton County Board of Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Barnett whom she married Saturday, June 22, 1957, father-in-law and mother-in-law, T.L. and Margaret Barnett, sister-in-law, Anna Sue Smith, and brother-in-law, Earl Polston. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Stockton of Albany, Kentucky, whom she married Saturday, March 26, 2005, daughters, Sandra (Tim) Redman of Wilmore, Kentucky, Jennifer (Jeff) Guinn of Albany, Kentucky, Trish Reneau (Glenn) Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, son, Billy (Beverly) Barnett of Pall Mall, Tennessee, step-son, Jason (Kate) Stockton of Silver Springs, Maryland, brother, Norman Smith, sister, Janet (Clyde) Shelton, both of Albany, Kentucky, grandchildren, Megan Redman, Jacob (Rachel) Reneau, Stephen Reneau, Joanna Barnett, Dillon Barnett, step-grandchildren, Sam Stockton, Janie Stockton, Lucy Stockton, nieces, Lisa Copeland, Allison Bilbrey, Lana (Malcolm) Ellison, Maria (Kennon) Shelton, nephews, Earl Lee (Angie) Polston, Kelly (Jenny) Polston, a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, August 10, 2019, in the Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Jim England officiating. Burial was in the Cartwright Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Tim Redman, Glen Mitchell, Clyde Shelton, Jason Stockton, Earl Lee Polston, Kelly Polston, Jacob Reneau, and Stephen Reneau. Campbell-New Funeral Home of Albany, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
