Mr. Gayle Buel “Doc” Upchurch, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at his residence in Albany, Kentucky, having attained the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 1 day. He was born in Albany, Kentucky on Thursday, February 17, 1944, the son of Herbert “Doc” & Ruby Nell (Booher) Upchurch. He was of the Methodist faith, a member of Albany Methodist Church and was a mechanic. Gayle’s hobbies were farming, going to classic car shows, knives, guns, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Paula Gail Upchurch.

        He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Lowhorn) Upchurch, whom he wed on Friday, April 15, 1960, children, Cheryl (& Aaron) Boggess of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Adam (& Pattie) Upchurch of Albany, Kentucky, grandchildren, Amber (& Luke) Pyles, and Carly (& Nick) Lovely.

The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of the Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Spears officiating. Special music by Kem McWhorter and Dorris England.  Burial was in the Peolia Cemetery. Casket bearers were Rick Collins, Nick Lovely, Luke Pyles, Aaron Boggess, Adam Upchurch, and Kirk Patten.
