Gayle Bowlin Obituary

Freddy Gayle Bowlin, age 79, of Albany, passed away on July 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born April 14,1945 in Albany,  Ky.,  the son of Alvis Eulina and Eula Pearl (Penticuff) Bowlin. He was a farmer and local businessman of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by 3 daughters Paula Bowlin, Tina Bowlin and Janice (&John) Ford. He is also survived by his brother, Benny (& June) Bowlin, sister, Faye Brown, sister in law, Ann Bowlin, and special friend, Evelyn Smith. He has 8 grandchildren, Colton Bowlin, Kadee Ford, Blake Fitzgerald, Cody (&Stephanie) Bowlin, Savannah (& Justin) Barker, Amber Davis, Cameron (& Cheyanne) Davis. Parris Bowlin, 11 great grandchildren, lots of other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, John Bowlin, Lawrence Bowlin, Russell Bowlin, Jimmy Bowlin and Lanny Bowlin, and 3 sisters, Elizabeth Kearney, Nell Pierce and Eddie Avery.

Gayle was a dedicated father who courageously raised 3 daughters alone; and that's no easy task. So, to provide for his family, he began his career at Albany Mills at a young age. After years of dedication and hard work, Gayle purchased the mill, now known to many as Bowlin’s Feed. With the help of his family and grandson, Colton, the business still continues to serve the community as it has for almost 40 years. He always treasured the many friendships from the mill customers who became an extended family to him. Being a workaholic, there wasn’t much time for hobbies, but when given a chance, he’d be found at Bend of the River, trapshooting. It was not uncommon for him to go 100 for 100.

Those of you who know him, know that the mill, farming, and his family were his life. If you knew him, you loved him.
